What is fashion to you? Fashion is my outlet; it's my creative release. Fashion allows me to express myself. Fashion is a way to convey a feeling, a mood, an attitude, or personality, without even saying a word.

Collection: "Country Quilts" - For this collection, I was inspired by the colors and textures of handmade quilts, as well as 1950's "country" silhouette in the style of the musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. The act of quilt making has been around since as early as the first century B.C. and I've become fascinated with the whole quilting culture. The techniques and designs are endless. It truly is an art.

My collection features clothing that looks to be made out of a comfy quilt, and is layered with mixed prints including plaid, gingham and floral, all in a rich color palette. There is a cast of 5 characters: "The School Marm", "The Milkmaid", "The Good Wife", "The Preacher's Daughter" and "The Country Bride", set in a scene from the prairie to the Appalachians with an innocence and country charm. It is avant-garde meets wearability.

What/who inspires you? Confident women inspire me. Women who know who they are and what they want. Women who embody the delicate balance of strength and sensitivity. In other words, my mother.

What does Fusion mean to you? Fusion is an opportunity to be inspired and encouraged by a group of your peers. It's a chance to display your point of view and perhaps be fueled by a little friendly competition. But most of all, Fusion is an opportunity for growth as a young designer and a young adult.
