What is fashion to you? Fashion to me is a way to express yourself, a sort of biography at times. Simply by looking at someone you can tell what they might be like, what their interests are, or their dislikes. Fashion is culture, identity, history, and art all in one. It is an incredible and exciting thing because it is something that every person in the world shares.

Collection: “Punchy and Poised” - My collection is based off of classic eveningwear redone in a modern way. The looks are feminine yet demanding. This woman could be anything. She is trendy yet sophisticated, and mildly provocative without being distasteful. A lot of sheer fabrics are used giving a sense of depth to the pieces. The silhouettes are simple enough to not be confusing, but have a bit of flare to keep it all exciting. The goal is class and sophistication through simplicity.

What/who inspires you? I am inspired by new things. However, the topics I tend to stick to more often are nature and art. My Fusion collection is inspired by costume designers from the early 1900's and gothic cathedrals.

What does Fusion mean to you? In my first week my freshmen year, we had a speaker at orientation who basically told us, “In the next four years you will be busy, overworked, and exhausted, however it will bring you joy because you are artists and you will be doing what you love.” He was explaining how no matter how much work we get, if we are passionate about the work it will make us happy. Though Fusion will be a lot of work, it is my chance to be creative. Fusion is a chance to design and make exactly what I want. It is a great experience and gives more creative freedom than we often get as designers.
