Fusion Fashion Show is an annual competition between The Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons The New School for Design's brightest young talent. Fifteen undergraduate students from each school (any major is eligible, though most of our contestants come from Fashion Design) are chosen to represent their school with a collection of five looks on the runway.
A series of five shows are held over the course of one intense weekend (this year, March 10th - 11th, 2012), where the designers show their creations to thousands of people. The final show is judged by industry elite, with a varied panel consisting of designers, editors, stylists, buyers, and influentials – all of whom are keeping an eye on the next wave of young talent to hit the industry.
Designers compete for awards such as Designer’s Designer Award, Best Designer Award, and the coveted Best Overall School Award.
Currently, the two schools are tied for winning the “Best Overall School” award, each having won 6 times. The Fusion 2012 competition will be the tie-breaker.
Our past judge panels include some of the most prestigious names in the industry, and as Fusion grows, more and more influentials have stepped in to inspire and support the next generation of fashion elite.
Some of our previous judges include Mary Kate Steinmiller, Cynthia Rowley, Alice Roi, Tara Subkoff, Chris Benz, Prabal Gurung, Robert Verdi, Atoosa Rubenstein, Richie Rich of Heatherette, Sarah Hartshorne of America's Next Top Model, Nolé Marin of America's Next Top Model & ELLE Magazine, Zang Toi, David Yassky, Horacio Silva, Austin Scarlett and many more.
